Inspired by Charles Rennie Mackintosh

For the new collection we were inspired by the work of the Scottish architect, designer and artist Charles Rennie Mackintosh. Aside from his three-dimensional work, which included the famous design for the Glasgow School of Art building, Mackintosh often experimented with a range of decorative forms and graphic arts. He created a bold diamond motif for homeware textiles during the 1920s; a distinctive pattern reminiscent of our own beloved argyle diamonds. Inspired by his work, we extracted sections of the design for a reinvention of the traditional argyle – edged in bold block intarsia outlines or digitally printed for a contemporary ‘inked’ appearance.
