Reducing carbon emissions on our customer deliveries

Pringle of Scotland Reducing carbon emissions on our customer deliveries

Pringle of Scotland are committed to reducing carbon emissions on our customer deliveries. We will achieve this by choosing greener delivery methods and reducing CO2 emissions on our deliveries where possible.

UK Deliveries

We work with DPD in the UK where their investment in electric vehicles means that they now account for over 32% of their final mile delivery fleet.  This is reducing carbon emissions on our customer deliveries in the UK:

  • In 2023, DPD certified that they delivered 41.65% of our parcel sent though them on all-electric vehicles saving 59Kg of CO2 emissions.
  • In 2024, DPD certified that they delivered 38.57% of our parcel sent though them on all-electric vehicles saving 209Kg of CO2 emissions.

We are also moving our free UK returns to DPD in 2025. so we should improve on these savings. We will continue to publish these statistics as they become available.

Further details of DPD’s efforts can be found at https://green.dpd.co.uk. and Pringle of Scotland DPD Electric Vehicle Certificates page

International Deliveries

We implemented DHL GoGreen Plus in May 20214 to reduce the CO2e emissions all our international Express Air deliveries by 50%.  This insetting scheme works by using a mixture of sustainable aviation fuel (SFA) and traditional aviation fuel (Kerosene) on flights to reduce CO2e emissions rather than the traditional route of offsetting emissions.  DHL aims to have over 30% of their aviation fuel to be blended with SAF by 2030.

SAF can effectively reduce lifecycle emissions of typical aviation fuel emissions by up to 70 - 80%.  SAF also reduces other harmful emissions like particulates and sulphur by 90% and 100% respectively.

We can claim this on all of our air shipments using Book & Claim where a specific quantity of SAF can be ‘booked’ in one location and then ‘claimed’ at another location that is not physically linked to the original on via the acknowledged Book & Claim methodology so we can offer GoGreen Plus from any location in the world, This allows us to claim this on all of our shipments irrespective of the location. Further information on book and claim can be found her https://rsb.org/programmes/book-and-claim/.

In May to October 2024, we sent 438 GoGreen Plus shipments weighing 1,158 KG and the equivalent of 9,047 Tonne Kilometers (the standardised unit of measure in freight transport that quantifies the total transport).  Further data for the rest of the year including saving will published when audited and available.

We will publish our CO2e reductions under this scheme annually.
